Arsenal face tussle with Liverpool to land Austrian star

Some supporters of Liverpool have been
distracted by news from the Daily Star who report
that Arsenal have joined the chase to sign Reds
target, Red Bull Salzburg defender Martin
Hinteregger.
The Austrian Under-21 international is thought to be
on Brendan Rodgers' radar after becoming a key
player for Salzburg since making his debut back in
2010.
Hinteregger, 21, has already featured nine times this
term and according to the latest reports, a switch to
Anfield could be on the cards as the Reds look to add
more strength in depth to their defence.
Liverpool brought in Kolo Toure, Aly Cissokho, Tiago
Ilori and Mamadou Sakho during the recent transfer
window but that doesn't seem enough and the Reds
boss will now try to add the centre back to his ranks.
However the Reds will face competition from the
Gunners who have reportedly had a long-term
interest in the defender as Arsene Wenger looks to
add to his current defensive options.
While Serie A giants Juventus could also pose a
threat to both English sides, having watched
Hinteregger in recent weeks in the Austrian
Bundesliga.
Who do you think will land the impressive Austrian in
January? Let us know your thoughts below.
