Arsenal star set for new deal

Per Mertesacker has impressed this season as the
Gunners currently lead the Premier League, following
a blistering start. Wenger wants to reward the big
German defender.
Mertesacker, 29, has been in excellent form, and
showing exactly why Arsene Wenger spent £9.9m to
bring him from Werder Bremen. Arsenal host Napoli
in midweek at the Emirates on Tuesday night in the
Champions League, and Mertesacker will face
summer transfer target Higuain.
Wenger said of Higuain & the visit of Napoli: "As we
know, Real Madrid sold two great players. One of
them went to Napoli, one to Arsenal. So it is 1-1 on
that front."
Arsenal have lost just one of their first six matches in
this Premier League season, and lead neighbours
Spurs by two points.
