Arsenal’s Ozil shirt sales will infuriate Real Madrid fans further

While Arsenal fans are still in party mode, despite still not seeing the new signing Mesut Ozil run on to a pitch in an Arsenal shirt yet, the fans of his former club Real Madrid are in grumble mode. In various surveys taken by Spanish football sites, a majority of Madrid fans are unhappy with the sale of Ozil. They have not been cheered up today, with an AS report stating that Zinedine Zidane, a former player and current coach, feels that Gareth Bale was not worth the money. Oh dear. The former World Footballer of the Year is just the latest in a long line of players, managers and football experts to say the same thing. There have been people saying that Bale’s fee will soon be covered by shirt sales, but a report in the Daily Mail has even put that in doubt. The article states that Arsenal shirts with Ozil on the back are outselling Real Madrid shirts with Bale on by a massive five to one. Arsene Wenger has always had a reputation of being a good businessman as well as one of the world’s best football managers, and with this Ozil transfer, he certainly seems to have pushed all the right buttons. Unless you are a Real Madrid fan that is.
