Injury Update: Wenger gives updates on Ramsey, Theo, Flamini and Cazorla
Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger is “optimistic” that
the two in-form midfielders Aaron Ramsey and
Mathieu Flamini will come through late tests and be
passed fit for their late Premier League trip to
Swansea.
Aaron Ramsey who is currently on goal scoring form
with seven goal in his last eight appearances for the
Gooners and will particularly eager to play in his
home country. On his injury concerns ahead of the
journey to the Liberty Stadium, Wenger said:
“[It’s] how people recover from the West Brom game.
“Overall I don’t believe we have more injuries than
we had before the game but Flamini has a small
shoulder problem.
“Ramsey, we have to check him today. [He has] a
little thigh problem but he should be all right. He has
a test today.
“Going back to Wales will always be special for him
but you know Aaron Ramsey. He has a test today and
I think he will get through it.”
Wenger, however, confirmed that he would not risk
the midfielder if the test do not come back
conclusive. But on both midfielders, He said:
“I’m quite optimistic about them.”
Theo Walcott this week had stomach surgery but
Wenger was upbeat about the England attacker’s
recovery time.
“[It went] as well as it could go,” he said.
“There were no complications. “Sometimes you find
an unexpected problem but it was very simple.”
When ask how long the English winger will be out,
Wenger said: “Optimistic is three weeks, realistic
five.”
The manager confirmed Cazorla is expected to return
after the international break.
“Santi Cazorla is now on a schedule until after the
international break.”
