Mesut Ozil keen to end Arsenal’s trophy drought

The in-coming Mesut Ozil has already destroyed Arsenal’s record transfer fee and our wage structure by earning a massive £140,000 a week over the next five years, and although he admits that he didn’t expect to be leaving Real Madrid this early in his career, now he is here he intends to help us break our trophy drought as well! Ozil said: ‘I look forward to my future with Arsenal. In talking with Arsene Wenger, I immediately sensed what had been missing, the wholehearted trust in me. I will pay back the club and the fans in each game. Now I want to help the club to finally win a title.’ It is nice to know that the German is fully committed to the team, especially after Wenger persuaded him to turn down a potentially much more rewarding (cash-wise) offer from moneybags Paris St. Germain, and even in his farewell message to the Madrid fans he showed his respect towards both sets of fans. He wrote: “Thank you very much for three wonderful years with all of you, my time was unique and special for me, sometimes things develop differently than I would have expected them to a few days ago. “I wish you and the team the very best. Now I’m looking forward to my new club: The Gunners!” I must admit I like the intelligent and calm way he has carried himself during the transition, and it is a real shame that Arsenal fans will have to wait another two weeks before we can see him in action (bloody international breaks – Grrrrr!) but I guess we will have to face the fact that he will always be in the German National side. That is the price you pay for having top-class players in the team. And it also good for Wenger that he has vindicated being very discreet this summer and proves that he wasn’t joking when he was bidding for those top, top players that always seemed to slip out of our grasp. “I have said throughout the summer that we have been working hard to bring in top-quality players.” Wenger said. “Mesut is a top-quality footballer who will be a fantastic addition to our talented squad. We are all looking forward to him joining up with us after his international matches with Germany. Now with Ozil, Podolski and Mertesacker in the Arsenal team we can watch a few more international games rather than just France and England!
