New £15m contract for Wenger + £40m January transfer budget
According to reports that started in The Sun, Arsenal
look set to offer Arsene Wenger a new contract worth
£15 million a year, with the added incentive of a £40
transfer budget to spend on reinforcements in
January. Wenger’s current contract expires at the end
of the season, and the Arsenal board are looking to
secure his services before clubs like PSG try and
swoop in.
As we have all read multiple times over the last few
days, Wenger played an important part in bringing
Mesut Ozil to the Emirates on Transfer Deadline
Day. There is no doubt that Wenger is a manager
under whom many of Europe’s top young talents
would love to be playing. He has a fantastic track
record with taking young players and turning them
into world-class footballers.
With the money now available to the club, we finally
get the chance to see what he can do with players
who are already world-class.
“I chose Arsenal because they are one of the top
clubs in England. [Wenger] is a world-class
manager – he’s demonstrated that for year
“A lot of players have developed under his
guidance in the past and that’s why I decided to
join Arsenal.”
As far as I am concerned, it seems only fair to let
Wenger finish what he started. We are finally looking
like a team that can really challenge for the title after
so many seasons on the periphery and I believe that
Wenger is the man that can make it happen. I am by
no means an “Arsene Knows Best” person, but I have
always said that he is still the best man for the club.
The Ozil signing seems to have changed a lot of fans
opinions on the situation. It seems that people who
were calling for Wenger’s head on September 1st
now can’t jump on the Wenger bandwagon quick
enough! No doubt there won’t be too many
complaints when he signs his new deal. No club
football this weekend, but we will finally get to see
Özil in action next weekend.
