Ozil transfer means Arsenal can sign ANYONE in future

I haven’t had a chance to give my thoughts on that dramatic final day of the transfer deadline as I’ve been really busy. To be honest, I can’t really add much more to what everyone will know – Özil was a fantastic signing. I had my doubts all summer (as did almost everyone) and there were real concerns as to whether we’d bring anyone of any real substance in, but fair play to those at Arsenal, we did. But what does it mean for future windows? To put it simply, a great deal. The signing of Özil is a signing that has made the rest of Europe sit up and look at Arsenal and start to take notice again. Clubs, players, managers and fans will now start to fear us again and what we can achieve with this one signing. It is the ultimate statement of ambition. There’s one thing I wanted to share and it’s very interesting for those that don’t know. According to numerous reliable journalists and numerous reliable twitter people, when Arsenal had agreed a fee with Madrid for the German playmaker Mesut Özil, Florentino Perez promised Wenger that he would rebuff any approaches from other clubs, even though the Daily Mail says that Daniel Levy tried to get him to refuse to sell to the Gunners . Why would Perez do such a thing? It’s because he understood that he messed Arsenal around during the Higuain deal and wanted to make amends. That’s the type of respect we receive from some of the biggest clubs in Europe. With such a great relationship with Real Madrid now, assuming that Daniel Levy’s shenanigans have put then off Tottenham for a while, they’ll no doubt be happy to give us first priorities on what they consider surplus to requirements from now on. It doesn’t sound great to be taking another team’s cast offs, but if you are going to do it, Real Madrid is surely the team to do it with. They mat pay over the odds, but they do but quality. Finally, any top player in Europe will now look at Arsenal as an option because we have made the statement of being a club willing to pay top dollar. They’ll also be attracted to superstars like Özil, Cazorla, Wilshere etc. Mesut is a phenomenal signing because we will see goals galore for years to come with him in the team but we certainly can’t underestimate what this transfer means off the pitch as well. It means better recognition across Europe, a better relationship with Madrid and more appeal to the best players in Europe.
