What now for Coquelin and his Arsenal career

Is Coquelin’s future in doubt at AFC? by Simaoatb Arsenal decided to let go off a lot of the players classed as ‘deadwood’ this summer, whether that be by selling them, loaning them or even releasing them in the case of Denilson, Arshavin and Squillaci, however I think one name that we were all quite surprised to see go out of the door was Francis Coquelin. Coquelin left the club this summer on a season long loan to Bundesliga side SC Freiburg, who are a mid table team in Germany. After loans spells in previous years to Ligue 1 side Lorient, Coquelin finally looked as if he was starting to settle down in London and with Arsenal, however Wenger certainly pulled a surprise out of the bag when he decided to loan out Coquelin again this summer. I think Coquelin was also quite surprised at the news and I’m pretty sure the centre midfielder who predominately acts as a central defensive midfielder is very keen to make it at Arsenal. The problem is Wenger doesn’t seem to want to play him much and so ultimately its best to send him out on loan so he can continue to develop. In a recent interview with France Football, Francis Coquelin voiced his concern about being sent out on loan; however he is adamant that he isn’t thinking about where his future lies at this current moment. Coquelin said: “I had the opportunity to join Lorient in the summer and I thought about it but finally I chose Freiburg because I wanted to discover something new. My future? I am only focused on Freiburg so far. I put Arsenal aside. My priority is to play as often as possible.” I definitely like Coquelin as a player and honestly wish Wenger played him more often however I suppose it’s best for the youngster to go out on loan once more to continue his development rather than spend the season mostly on the bench with Arsenal. What I don’t want is for him to turn in to what Frimpong has at Arsenal because I really do think he has talent and out of the two Coquelin definitely makes the cut for me. The only problem is Wenger doesn’t seem to be able to see the same.
