Arsene Wenger is determined to sign a new striker in
January - and Fernando Llorente could be a stop-gap
option.
Arsenal boss Wenger is keen to strengthen his squad
because Olivier Giroud is the only fit senior
traditional centre-forward at the club.
Liverpool's Luis Suarez remains in the Gunners'
sights but Wenger may find it difficult to bring in any
of his top targets.
He could end up having to do a loan deal to bridge
the gap to next summer, which could open the door
for Llorente.
The 28-year-old Spain international has been left
largely on the bench since joining Juventus from
Athletic Bilbao in the summer, and will be desperate
for regular football in a World Cup year.
Juve have largely only used one striker and Llorente -
a player Arsenal have scouted in the past - is behind
Carlos Tevez in the pecking order.
Wenger recognises the need to give his squad a lift
and if they are in contention for trophies then a loan
deal to provide back-up for in-form Giroud may be
the perfect solution.
Arsenal still have Suarez on their radar but may face
competition for his signature from Real Madrid, who
in turn could possibly offload Karim Benzema.
Wenger has been delighted with the signing of Mesut
Ozil because it has given the club such a morale-
boost, and the arrival of a new striker may do the
same in January.
* ARSENAL are confident midfielder Santi Cazorla will
be fit to face Norwich on Saturday week. He has
stepped up his training after an ankle injury.
