Arsene Wenger To Hand Nicklas Bendtner Second Arsenal Chance

Gunners boss reconsiders stance on troubled striker. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to wait until December before deciding whether to dip back into the transfer market for another striker as he prepares to give Nicklas Bendtner another chance to establish himself in the first team, Sky Sports reports. The Gunners were heavily linked with moves for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, Liverpool's Luis Suarez and a deadline day swoop for Chelsea's Demba Ba. However, they were unable to push any of the deals through before the window closed and as a result have been left short changed in the striking department. French international Olivier Giroud has started the season in fine form, but an injury to Lukas Podolski has meant that youngster Yaya Sanogo and Bendtner have been the only available back ups for the manager. The Dane had looked to be on his way out of the club at one stage after spending two seasons on loan with Sunderland and Juventus, but he is now set to be offered a lifeline by Wenger, who will give him another chance to prove that he is good enough. "I will wait until December to see what we need in the squad. We have spoken about Bendtner, Sanogo and Giroud. If the three do well, I am in no need of buying another striker," Wenger said. On Bendtner, who will return to training in 'two or three days' he added: "It is a fantastic opportunity for him. "Honestly, he was supposed to go but he stayed and once he did, you have to consider him as a full member of the squad. If he deserves to play in front of Giroud, he plays in front of Giroud. It is as simple as that. "He will be in the squad against West Brom (for a Capital One Cup clash on Wednesday) for sure. "He is not a bad boy. He is a good guy. He lost his way a little bit, he took the easy path, but there are some instances in your career when players think this is the moment for them. He has got the message."
