Marica to Arsenal transfer off as Wenger happy with strikers?

Arsene Wenger has been talking about the striker situation at Arsenal and while many people would describe it as a crisis, the Frenchman seems pretty happy with what he has got. This makes the rumoured transfer of the Romanian international Ciprian Marica very unlikely. It was reported in the Metro yesterday that the 27- year old striker, who is available on a free transfer after finishing his contract with the Bundesliga club Schalke, was going to announce which club he was joining by the end of this week. His agent had strongly hinted it would be Arsenal, while West Ham have also been linked. Marica said, “I am in negotiations with three teams. “I hope I will be able to tell you the name of my next team by the end of the week.” However, Wenger has been speaking about his striking options and, with Sanogo and Bendtner on their way back to being ready, the manager seems unconcerned about getting anyone else in. He is understandablt delighted about the great form being shown by the first choice centre forward Olivier `na na na naaaa` Giroud, although he says it is too soon to start counting the Frenchman as one of the best in the world. Wenger told Arsenal.com, “Let’s analyse that on a longer period. I think there is still a lot to come from him. I am convinced that this is an important season for him. “We now have strikers who are real strikers. Sanogo is not fit but he has stature as well, we are building him up physically, he has good technical quality. And don’t forget we have Bendtner who is coming back.” Wenger seems to think that Giroud is in very good shape physically, and that he should be able to cope with the many games he will have to play this season. So barring an injury, Wenger feels that he doesn’t have to worry too much about resting his main striker, suggesting that playing so many games might actually be beneficial to the French international. He said, “He likes that. He is a positive guy, he has a positive charisma. He has a good physical basic stamina, and guys who have a good stamina recover, and can repeat again.” It certainly seems to be working for him at the minute, as tomorrow he will aim to make a little bit of history by scoring in the first five Premier League games of a season. So it would seem as if Marica will not be coming to Arsenal after all, although Wenger has been known to surprise us before. To be honest, he does not seem to be Arsenal quality, so I am not too bothered about this but I am worried about the lack of cover for Giroud. Hurry up and get fit will you Lukas….
