Round up of Arsenal international players’ games

It seems as if Arsenal fans and Arsene Wenger can relax again for a couple of days. With a number of injury problems already troubling the Gunners, and the squad looking a bit thin, the last thing we need is for any more players to pick up knocks during this international break. Well the first of two matchdays is over, and it appears that all the Arsenal players who featured came through unscathed. Szczesny was an unused substitute in Poland’s draw with Montenegro, as was Monreal for Spain, while Cazorla came on in the second half. All three France internationals, Olivier Giroud, Bacary Sagna and Laurent Koscielny played the whole game as France drew 0-0 in Georgia. Sagna and Giroud were heavily involved in the attacking threat, and it was Benzema rather than the Arsenal man who was replaced at halftime. That dropped France three points behind Spain in the group, so all three will probably be used again in Belarus on Tuesday. The England pair of Walcott and Wilshere featured, and Jack was replaced after about an hour, with no problem. Theo nearly got on the score sheet, and played well, drawing a save that led to Lambert scoring the second of four. Aaron Ramsey did register for Wales, after good skill won him a penalty which he converted himself. Unfortunately Walses lost, as did the Czech Republic despite Rosicky scoring. Both scorers played the full 90 minutes. Both Mertesacker and Arsenal’s new record signing Mesut Ozil played the whole game as Germany beat Austria 3-0. They are five points clear at the top of their group and play the Faroe Islands on Tuesday. You might as well rest them Joachim.
