Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo suggest the Arsenal
man is in the running
Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is on the 23-man Ballon
d'Or shortlist, according to Barcelona-based sports
daily Mundo Deportivo.
A FIFA meeting in Zurich this Wednesday has
compiled a provisional list for the prestigious award,
which will be considered by France Football before
being announced at the end of October.
Ozil, 24, is believed to have made the cut alongside
former teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio
Ramos.
Yaya Toure is expected to be another Premier League
nominee for world football's greatest individual prize.
Barcelona claim the most inclusions, with current
holder Lionel Messi , Neymar, Andrés Iniesta,
Sergio Busquets, Gerard Piqué, Cesc Fàbregas, Dani
Alves and Javier Mascherano all reported as being on
the shortlist, with Xavi and Jordi Alba also in
contention.
Bayern Munich boast some candidates following their
Champions League success, and Polish striker Robert
Lewandowski is also named.
Only one English player, Manchester United's Wayne
Rooney, made last year's shortlist .
