Arsenal may not be struggling on the pitch at the
moment, but off it we are experiencing a few issues
with injures, most notably in the attacking
department. After the window closed, despite the
signing of Mesut Ozil, we still couldn't quite believe
that Wenger and the Arsenal board members had
allowed the window to pass without signing a real
quality striker. And soon after it closed, the reason
seemed to be even more apparent. Not because
Giroud wasn't performing because at the moment he
is in the form of his life, it's more a factor of
suggesting where do we go from here if Giroud gets
injured.
People turned to the likes of Walcott and Podolski,
but now the new issue is that most of our first team
attacking force is currently ruled out with injury.
Walcott, Cazorla, Podolski and Oxlade-Chamberlain
are all currently on the treatment table, and it's left
us with just two youngsters as our wingers, in Ryo
Miyaichi and Serge Gnabry. But the question is,
which one is better?
Both have been recognised as having huge potential.
Gnabry seems to be getting his chance with the first
team more, despite being the younger player and the
player with less experience, and I think that shows
that Wenger rates the German higher than his
Japanese counterpart, although Ryo's pre-season was
disrupted with injury. Both players are pacey and
skilful in and around the area, but despite Gnabry's
good performances, I would like to see Miyaichi get a
bit more of a run out because I think it's vital for him
to get some more game time with Arsenal this
season if he is to make it with the Gunners in the
long run.
Gnabry of course scored at the weekend to put the
Gunners ahead at the Liberty, however I didn't see
him do anything Miyaichi couldn't and I think Wenger
is missing out on a real gem by not playing him. I'm
not saying Gnabry should be replaced, nor should
anyone else in the team for Miyaichi's expense. I just
think it would be good to unleash the Japanese
youngster on the league and see if he really has what
it takes to make it as a future Arsenal player!
