Arsenal Injury News – Podolski out until December? – like Diaby……

Whilst the rest of us are now thinking about a certain German international that goes by the name of Mesut Ozil, Arsenal have been told that Lukas Podolski’s injury may keep him out of action longer than we originally thought, according to a report in the Daily Star. The paper claims he could be out of action until the end of the year, but hopefully there is a mistake because it is not being widely reported. Podolski, who is currently still with the German national team despite his injuries has been to meet Arsenal’s latest signing and German addition Mesut Ozil, who broke Arsenal’s transfer record history when he signed for an astonishing £42.5 million from Spanish giants Real Madrid, on Monday’s transfer deadline day. Podolski spent a lot of the time on the bench during pre-season but that was understandable due to the fact he was still recovering from surgery during the summer. But he also didn’t feature against Aston Villa until the dying minutes of the game. Podolski then played little part in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Fenerbahce in Istanbul before putting in a powerhouse performance against Fulham, scoring two great goals. Then under strange circumstances, Podolski lasted just 47 seconds of the second half in our 2-0 win over Fenerbahce at home before having to be stretched off with a hamstring injury. Everyone feared for the worst and despite having not featured a lot for Arsenal so far, everyone recognised he was an important aspect of this Arsenal team. Originally the injury was diagnosed for a quick return, then within 8-10 weeks, meaning he’d miss around a quarter of the season anyway, but now it’s being reported that the injury is far worse than first considered and he will not return till December at the earliest according to the Daily Star. Furthermore if you consider fitness building and other aspects there is a chance that if this news is true, Podolski may struggle to play again in 2013 and this would be a major loss for both Podolski and Arsenal. With several important players such as Chamberlain, Arteta and Vermaelen already out for the long run we can now add Podolski to that list too. With a seemingly solid team now in the bag hopefully these players mentioned can soon return to fitness and play an important role that hopefully holds success for Arsenal football club. As things stand, assuming this injury report is correct, Podolski could be set to return to the Arsenal first team around the same time as our resident crock, Abou Diaby. The French midfielder is on the mend after a cruciate ligament problem, but he is hopeful and confident that Arsenal will see him back to his best next year, reports Sky Sports. God knows, with an already stretched squad, Arsenal need the duo back as soon as possible.
