Ronaldo and Fabregas say rivals SHOULD be scared of Arsenal with Ozil…

Around 10 years ago or so Arsenal had the most dominant team in England and arguably one of the best in Europe. If it hadn’t been for the heartfelt defeat in Paris to Barcelona in the 2006 Champions League final, then we could have been on our way to further greatness by being the named Europe’s top team for the first time. However it wasn’t meant to be and we have seen a lot of changes at the club in the years following. Ever since that day, Arsenal have been falling into decline, while we have witnessed several big name signings leave us, as well as the department of several key management and ownership officials at the club. We’ve also seen the incoming Stan Kroenke and Ivan Gazidis. The one thing that has remained the same is the manager, Arsene Wenger, and many believed he had lost his touch in the footballing world, with the sales of key players and the arrival of several mediocre ones. But he finally silenced his critics the other night by signing Mesut Ozil in a record breaking £42.5 million deal from Real Madrid. And the signing of Mesut Ozil has brought revelations to the club with several top players including Cesc Fabregas and Ronaldo as well as Arsenal player Theo Walcott and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who of course worked with Ozil at Madrid for the last two years, have all had their say on the deal for the Germany international midfielder. The consensus seems to be that Arsenal and Wenger have played a blinder, while Real Madrid have dropped a massive clanger. Ronaldo has personally shown his frustration and anger about his club selling Ozil, and I’d assume this is because not only that he’s a world class player but also the fact that Ozil has been a key part of Ronaldo’s game, with the 24 year old German providing an extreme amount of assists for the main man over the last three years. Cesc Fabregas has also had his say on the transfer with the ex-Gunner still being ever true and faithful to the club his once captained. Ronaldo told AS: “Ozil leaving is bad news for me. He was the player who best knew my moves in front of goal. I’m angry at Ozil leaving.” Caught Offside report that Fabregas said: “I was really surprised by Ozil’s departure. He seemed to me the second-best player at Madrid, after Cristiano (Ronaldo). He’ll be great for Arsenal.” It seems a lot of those associated with football cannot believe this transfer has happened and understandably so. Arsenal haven’t been competitive in the market nor ambitious in their spending, so to sign such a world class player like Ozil, Arsenal surely must be a team to fear once again. What seems to have really surprised the football world, though, is that Madrid have let such a brilliant player leave. I wonder if Ronaldo might be available in January….
