Arsene Wenger and the German press praise the
young Eisfeld. But is he up to the test?
Arsenal FC goalkeeper legend Jens Lehmann is
pleased with the early-season success by his former
team. However he preaches caution too: "[…] this is
only a snapshot in time. The guys have to show, if
they are capable of keeping up this level over the
next month", Lehmann said on sky.
To keep up with this level, it could help to have some
young, dynamic and hungry players on the team,
especially Thomas Eisfeld.
Chelsea's next German wonderkind could be
Julian Brandt
Stepping onto the field two days ago as a full time
starter for the first time in his professional career in
Arsenal's 3-4 penalty win over West Bromwich Albion
Thomas Eisfeld showed great potential.
The German press thinks that Eisfeld, who was
hardly known in his home country three days ago,
has already made his breakthrough with this game.
Newspaper Die Welt wrote: "Now Eisfeld will certainly
not wait again eleven months for his next
professional call. His strengths are especially good
technique and mobility. Now maybe he can provide
more proof."
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who was born
in Finsterwalde a little town in the east part of
Germany, has still a lot to prove.
But this doesn't hold Arsene Wenger back with his
appreciation for the midfielder, who went from
Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal FC for a paltry sum.
"Thomas has that kind of quality that some
midfielders have - not many. They have the timing to
get in dangerous situations."
Arsenal's injury list has a silver lining…
And Wenger added: "When they have those
dangerous situations, they are like snakes. They bite
you to death because they don't miss their first
touch. He is cool enough in front of goal and he
finishes well."
That is a lot of love from Wenger. Arsenal fans should
hope that the German is up for the test, because of
all the injuries in the starting line-up Eisfeld could
see extended time on the field.
But what could possible go wrong when your
manager and the German press have got your back?
What do you think? Does Thomas Eisfeld have
a legitimate chance to shine in Arsenal's game
against Swansea City on Saturday?
