Ox might struggle for an Arsenal place when he returns
Chamberlain in for a tough return? by Simaoatb
As I’m sure you are aware, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain
is currently out of action with an injury and with the
England international star not fully knowing how long
the extent of the injury will take to heal, it may be a
tough return for Chambo.
Before his injury, Chamberlain was flourishing with
the Gunners in pre-season, so much so that it earned
him a place in the starting line-up for Arsenal’s first
competitive match of the season against Aston Villa.
Arsenal of course lost 3-1 in an absolutely disastrous
game full of mistakes, and one thing that didn’t go
unnoticed was The Ox’s struggle towards the end of
the first half.
He was then taken off at half time and it was soon
revealed that although it wasn’t a serious injury, his
expected return day was in 6 weeks. Now bearing in
mind this was almost a month ago now, it’s
surprising we haven’t heard much to do with updates
regarding his current condition, meaning some are
already suggesting he could be suffering from the
same issues Jack Wilshere did a few years ago.
Although I think the suggestions are a bit far-fetched,
with no information to prove it wrong I can only say
that I hope this isn’t the case!
Chamberlain may also find it difficult upon his return
to actually get into the Arsenal team. The addition of
Mesut Ozil has had more effects on the midfield than
you may have originally thought. Cazorla will now be
deployed out wide, meaning Podolski is likely to be
second choice for the left wing spot. Right mid/wing
is looking more likely and I think Chambo could
actually take Walcott’s spot but I don’t think Wenger
is keen on dropping one of Arsenal’s highest earners.
I guess we will just have to see but the main thing is
that I hope Chamberlain’s recovery is still
progressing as expected because at the end of the
day I think he is one of the biggest game changing
talents we have at this club!
