Is Gibbs close to being one of best Arsenal players?

Kieran Gibbs has come a long way over the past five
years or so, having turned from a poor Artsenal
winger, to a soon to be world class left back! Gibbs
didn't actually come through the youth ranks at
Arsenal like many perceive, because the left back in
fact joined the Gunners upon closure of his original
team AFC Wimbledon. He went straight into the
Arsenal reserves and there was no doubt that he held
quality and potential in him, despite performing as a
winger.
Wenger then turned young Gibbs into a left back and
he took over from Gael Clichy, when the Frenchman
joined Manchester City. However it wasn't the
Frenchman that Gibbs was compared to nor expected
to become, it was instead Ashley Cole!
Now despite the hatred, you have to admit Cole is a
world class left back and if Gibbs can follow in that
same path (but of course remain with the Gunners)
then I'm sure then Gibbs would certainly have the
potential to be one of Arsenal's greatest left backs of
recent times. Gibbs is a consistent performer for
Arsenal most weeks and impresses on the majority of
occasions, so much so that an England call up has
appeared. The young Englishman proves to be a vital
member of this Arsenal team nowadays, showing
desire in both defence and attack, and I think that he
certainly has the ability to soon take Cole's place in
the England team.
His awareness and ability to track a player into a
favourable position have always been some of Gibbs'
strong points, whilst not forgetting he has also been
the centre of several key tackles experienced during
the last few campaigns, especially against West
Brom to secure Champions League status. Although I
recognise Gibbs isn't the best left back in Europe or
even England, at least not yet, I certainly thinks
that's he's well on his way to being a top notch
player and will surely command that left back
position at Arsenal for many more years to come! Do
you agree?
