Arsenal: Piers Morgan admits he had never heard of Serge Gnabry

Serge Gnabry is the superkid who has been creating waves in Arsenal's youth teams for the past two seasons since signing from Stuttgart. The attacking midfielder was the standout player from the club's NextGen Series side last season, and looked like a regular in the first team during several assured pre-season displays. Gnabry is a German youth international and Theo Walcott's injury could not have been better timed for him, considering that Germany international boss Jogi Low was at the Emirates to check out Mesut Ozil He really did himself no injustice, putting in a mature display which got better as the game went on - despite being clattered by Robert Huth early into the second half. Gnabry was certainly in-form, baggin a goal on his under-19 debut for Germany a fortnight ago, a winner over West Brom in Arsenal's under-21s days later, and a brace against Marseille on Tuesday in UEFA's new Youth League. A frequent name on the bench this season, it was little surprise to see him called up in place of the injured Walcott, for an opportunity overdue. Not everybody was ready for him though, with Arsenal supporter Piers Morgan incredibly admitting he had never heard of a player considered the club's most advanced and exciting youth prospect. Check out the tweets below: Is it because it's 05.24am in LA that I've just seen our team-sheet and don't know who one of our players is? #Gnabry #Afc — Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) September 22, 2013 Arsenal fans mocking me for not knowing Gnabry will be the same ones who always knew Ramsey would come good. #TheExperts #Afc — Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) September 22, 2013 Anyway, apparently he's a 'very exciting young German winger', so best of luck to him. #Gnabry #Afc — Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) September 22, 2013 Gnabry certainly will hope there are no Arsenal fans not knowing his name now, and it would not be a surprise to see him away to West Brom in the League Cup in midweek. He may just turn out to be the season's best breakthrough star
