Arsenal target leaves door open but do we really want Corchia?
Although a transfer window for the summer has only
just shut, people are already getting ready for the
time that it opens up again in January and generally
it seems Arsenal fans are expecting big things from
the club with expectations now high following the
arrival of Mesut Ozil.
The likes of Luis Suarez and Angel Di Maria have
already been mentioned as transfer targets for the
Gunners this winter, with Wenger supposedly keen
on returning to the players he just missed out on in
the summer, however the name being linked today
with several independent news outlets including the
Daily Express is a name of less excitement
.
Sebastian Corchia was linked with Arsenal over the
course of the summer however the rumours didn’t
stick around for long, suggesting that perhaps the
transfer was nothing but gossip however there does
seem to be some definite interest from Arsenal,
especially after the player commented in an
interview with L’Equipe that he doesn’t know where
his future may lie.
Corchia said: “It has been a hectic transfer window
but I was still focused on my preparation. I continued
in the same mind-set as last season. I do not want it
to distract me. Instead, I went back to work
immediately. It happened, we cannot go back. I know
what I have to do now during matches and we will
see what happens in the next transfer window. But at
the moment I’m of the view that I want to work with
my club.”
Corchia is a defender who predominately plays right
back and although he isn’t the biggest name on the
books right now, I still think Wenger may be
interested in the French youngster. Corchia has bags
of talent and has also been lined up by several other
European clubs over the course of the summer;
however all seemed to fail in their attempt to sign
him, which once again opens up the door for Arsenal.
The only concern I have is that by signing him, it
could mean it is the end of the road for either Carl
Jenkinson or Hector Bellerin!
