Podolski expects more Germans at Arsenal so who next?

Lukas Podolski was one of the first Arsenal players to welcome the new signing Mesut Ozil to the Gunners following his deadline day transfer from Real Madrid. Podolski also dragged his injured hamstring along to greet his international team mate with an Arsenal shirt, where Ozil is with the Germany national side. That makes three full German internationals in the Arsenal team, but the striker does not think it will end there, according to Metro . Podolski said, “I have noticed that the German mentality works very well in England. “Maybe Mesut is not the last German international who comes to Arsenal.” The fact that Arsene Wenger speaks fluent German, and that our German defender Per Mertesacker has been captaining the Gunners in the absence of Thomas Vermaelen and Mikel Arteta could help to persuade other German players to come to the Emirates, but who would be the players that would really add some of that top quality that Wenger has been talking about? Personally, I would absolutely love to see Marco Reus come to Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund, but that transfer will not be an easy one to complete. Not only is the 24-year old playing at his hometown club, in front of the biggest crowds in Germany, but he has nearly four years left on his contract. Dortmund were unlucky to lose the Champions League final to Bayern Munich in May, so persuading them to sell and Reus to leave may be beyond evn Wenger’s language skills. Also from Dortmund, there are the central defender Mats Hummels and the midfielders Gundogan and Sven Bender. There is Lars Bender from Bayer Leverkusen, Howedes and Draxler from Schalke and Max Kruse from Monchengladbach. Kruse is a recent addition to the National team and moved from Freiburg this season after impressing. The 25-year old striker already has two goals from four Bundesliga games for his new club, and could be a great addition to Arsenal’s attack? Who would you like, or who do you think might be the next German at Arsenal, unless he is already with the club?
