Do Arsenal need to be so protective of Wilshere?

Arsenal continued their fantastic team run of form
last night, with a great 2-0 win over Champions
League rivals Napoli. Arsenal fans were left thrilled
with the result and it means we are now unbeaten in
10 games, with 10 wins out of 10.
One of the key reasons why this season has been so
successful is because of the form of several key
players, as well as the team building spirit and family
like support we have at Arsenal. But I think it's also
important to recognise that despite the concerns
about injuries, we haven't really been troubled as
much as we normally do, and those that have picked
up injuries like Walcott, Cazorla, Podolski and
Chamberlain, all haven't been as missed as we may
have thought, simply because the current crop have
all been outstanding.
One player that relates to both outstanding
performances and an injury concern is Arsenal and
England international midfielder Jack Wilshere.
Wilshere has again been on top form so far this
season and although I still don't think he is the
player he used to be, his performances have still
been effective enough and despite his lack of goals,
his creativity and passion are certainly a valuable
aspect to the team. But could there be concerns over
his fitness once again?
Arsenal have been be constantly cautious over Jack
Wilshere because if he sustains another serious
injury in his early developing years, then to add that
to the previous injury he sustained, would be
absolutely devastating on his career. England too are
forced into being very protective over Wilshere, and
although it's for the best, it certainly can be
frustrating. Wenger last night revealed why he again
chose to drop Wilshere from the side instead of either
Flamini or Ramsey.
Wenger said: "Of course it was difficult. But I do not
want to overload him. He comes back for a long time,
he has given a lot on Saturday, and I decided that [to
leave him out] very late today. With him I am a little
bit more cautious than I was before."
It's a worrying factor having to be so protective over
Wilshere because it doesn't allow him to develop into
the player he wants to be, however for the best of his
career, what Wenger is doing is the right thing and
being cautious can never hurt, although Jack is
desperate to play all the time. Aside from injury
concerns, I also think Wenger is right to drop
Wilshere out of the midfield trio because both
Ramsey and Flamini have punched way above their
weight this season and although it may not be best
for Jack, I hope it continues!
