Arsenal consider 10 deadline day options amid. £80m spree - report

The Telegraph claims that Arsenal have considered as many as 10 different players ahead of transfer deadline day. Arsene Wenger did not rule out deadline day additions after the win over Tottenham, in fact with a twinkle in his eye he stated he was interested in adding one or two 'superb players.' Putting all their eggs in one basket is dangerous at this late stage, and The Telegraph claim that Arsenal have considered as many as 10 different names to pursue on deadline day. Here is a run through and snapshot analysis of the potential targets: The chosen ones Mesut Ozil, Angel di Maria, Abel Hernandez "Arsène Wenger is preparing a dramatic £80 million spending spree in the final hours of the transfer window, with Arsenal ready to launch bids for Real Madrid midfielders Mesut Ozil and Angel di Maria as well as Palermo striker Abel Hernández." Analysis: Spanish radio station Cadena Cope claimed that Arsenal have made an approach for Mesut Ozil on Sunday evening, which was vouched for by Guillem Balague. Ozil was left out of Madrid's win over Athletic Bilbao earlier on the day, and the Mirror claim even a loan deal could be on the table for the German international. PSG are also said to be interested. Angel di Maria is perhaps less likely, he starred for Madrid in their 3-1 win, assisting a goal for Cristiano Ronaldo and is very highly rated by Carlo Ancelotti due to his willingness to track back. He may be more likely to move if Ozil is too, but it depends on whether the Argentine even wants to, having indicated previously he wants to stay. Abel Hernandez is certainly 'gettable'. He was linked with Arsenal last Autumn before suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury on international duty with Uruguay. His Palermo side were relegated from Serie A, and he would surely jump at the chance to move to Arsenal and play Champions League football. The back-ups Julian Draxler, Demba Ba, Karim Benzema "There is also interest in back-up options, including Schalke’s Julian Draxler and Chelsea's Demba Ba... A final bid is also expected for Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema." Analysis: Julian Draxler is seen as younger alternative to Mesut Ozil, but one who is more difficult to sign. Schalke value him even higher than Madrid do, with the club more dependent on Drazler pulling the strings in attack than Madrid presently seem to be on Ozil. Demba Ba is up for sale at Chelsea after playing no part in the club's last two games following a poor display against Aston Villa. He is surely nothing more than a back-up for Arsenal, with Newcastle United and West Ham also attempting to sign him. The Telegraph are surely correct that Karim Benzema would resist an approach from Arsenal. The Frenchman is enjoying being the main man in attack following Gonzalo Higuain's exit and has repeatedly stated he wants to stay. He is likely to even sign a new contract at the club. The long-shots Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez "Arsenal have also considered launching fresh bids for Liverpool’s Luis Suárez, Chelsea’s Juan Mata and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney but are well aware of the reluctance of English clubs to sell to a Premier League rival." Analysis: Jose Mourinho maintains Juan Mata is not for sale, despite the Spaniard barely featuring in the club's opening matches. He has even gone as far as to insist the club's transfer activity is over and it would be a surprise to see him cash in, especially to Arsenal. Wayne Rooney's future has been up for grabs all summer, but Arsenal would have left any approach too late - with the striker apparently deciding to stay, and United resolute on their not for sale decision. Rooney stays. Bridges have been burned with Liverpool regarding Luis Suarez, who has seemingly repaired his relationship with the club, watching on from the stands with his wife at Anfield as his ban continues. Suarez is reportedly the subject of a late approach from Real Madrid, but given the short time available to seal such a transfer, it is most likely he stays. A possibility... Emiliano Viviano "Arsenal have also been offered Emiliano Viviano, the Palermo and Italy goalkeeper, but Wenger has been impressed this season with the form of Wojciech Szczesny." Viviano like Hernandez faces a season in Serie B unless a late deal is done. Arsenal could yet complete a double deal for the duo, or take him on loan agreeing simply to pay his wages. Competition for Szczesny's place would though be welcome, and The Metro even claim a deal has been struck. Who do you want to see in?
