Flamini shows Arsenal that money is NOT everything

Flamini proves his worth against Spurs! by Ash Last week Arsenal made their second summer signing by completing a move for ex-Gunner Mathieu Flamini. Upon the announcement there was a mix of emotions from the Arsenal fans because we didn’t know whether to feel excited at another new face or disgruntled over the fact it wasn’t quite who we wanted. Many fans reacted badly because he was another free signing whilst we also couldn’t believe that this was the type of quality we were signing. Others were pleased to see us make a second signing, as well as the fact that he filled such an important position. I was genuinely impressed with Flamini against Tottenham yesterday. Many feared he wouldn’t be the same player that left the club five years ago and although we weren’t wrong, he still held a lot of qualities I was expecting. His presence on the pitch not just in his footballing ability, but mentality was outstanding and that’s what I was most impressed by. The moral support he brought onto the pitch and the organisation, making sure everyone knew what they were doing as we held on to that one goal lead and his leadership certainly didn’t go unnoticed. Flamini was commanding like a captain and his passion could be seen from all fans alike. I’m sure the players respect him on the pitch because not only was he part of a famous Arsenal side, he is also a winner and the admiration for him must be unreal. Overall I can say I was very impressed with Flamini and Wenger certainly made the right decision signing him. Maybe Le Prof really does still know what he’s doing, looks like we misunderstood the pair of them, while Wenger alluded to this in his post match press conference. He said, “I said it was a no brainer. I am just sorry that he did not cost £25 million.” Fair play to Wenger on that one. He has played a blinder getting a player who looks like he will be really valuable for the Gunners on a free transfer. I just hope he doesn’t now think he can do that all the time.
