Stoke may be born again, but Arsenal will kill‘em!!
Arsenal will look to turn a good week into a fantastic
one when Mark Hughes brings his Stoke City side to
the Emirates on Sunday. A lot of football experts and
fans, including myself, have been very surprised by
Stoke this season, but I expect Arsene Wenger and
an in-form Arsenal side to bring them back to Earth
with a bump this weekend.
Stoke have been a tough, hard working and well
organised side for years under Tony Pulis. They have
given most sides real problems, especially at the
Britannia stadium, but the fans got fed up of their
style of football and were no longer content to just be
secure in the Premier League, they wanted to be
entertained. I can see their point, but I thought that
the appointment of Mark Hughes as the new boss
would backfire on them. However, so far the
Welshman and the Potters seem like a match made
in heaven.
Stoke were very unlucky not to beat the multi, multi
million pound Man City team last weekend, and if
they had they would have been on the same points
as Arsenal. They are playing more attractive football,
while keeping their work ethic and defensive solidity.
But Arsenal are going to give them a rude
awakening.
Stoke are new to their new system, as are Man City,
but Arsenal are an in form side. All the players are
comfortable with each other and with what the boss
wants. In fact, the more adventurous Stoke will be
even better for us than the old one. Rather than
having to break down a stubborn defence camped
around the penalty box, Arsenal will have a team
coming forward and leaving lots of space on the
immaculate Emirates surface for Oxil, Wilshere,
Ramsey and all to do their thing.
Unless he reverts to Stoke’s old ways, `Sparky`
Hughes could be in for a big shock.
