Why Arsenal really are title contenders this year!!

Why Arsenal may just win it this time – By ATB. It’s been the fashionable topic of late and since everyone’s in an excellent mood, I figured I’d add my two cents. I want to assess whether or not Arsenal are indeed title contenders as some people have pointed out. Well, for the record, I genuinely think Arsenal will challenge for that coveted crown. And there are reasons why what I’ve just said doesn’t sound audacious or foolhardy. Everyone is full of belief and rightly so, and it’s an amazing feeling being an Arsenal supporter these days. Arsenal FC is a celebrated club and for this reason, the last few seasons which have ended trophy-less felt like something was wrong and wide of the mark but nobody could work out the technicalities. Players who we as fans thought they carried that great ‘red’ hope were abandoning ship left and right. “There’s no ambition”, they all declared. “I’d rather warm a bench till it sizzles”, said Nasri. Okay that bit was a lie. Imagine a scenario where you’re married into a pro-Manchester United family and have people around you who under normal circumstances are awesome blokes, but on match days are just insufferable tools, and have them express amusement and point at you infuriatingly because you believe in the French guy who can’t even zip up his own jacket. Well folks, that’s been my life for a while but not anymore. Suddenly, that ol’ chap who I can only imagine has made some bubble gum entrepreneurs very wealthy over the years called it quits. They replaced him with David Moyes who as far as I’m concerned, has the personality of lukewarm beer. And if you know anything about brands, you’d get it right away why United have not been able to sign anyone. Strike one. Chelsea has their guy back- the “Special one”- the same guy who won the trophy from the Invincibles… and that’s not all- his team broke the record points tally! Well, he’s back now but something is unusual about him. He seems utterly lost and confused. Maybe there are too many “top” players, players with inflated price tags who have to play at the expense of the settled ones. Maybe, his stubborn tactics and constant snub to start Chelsea’s best player statistically hasn’t quite worked out this time around. It’s pretty much apparent that Mourinho hasn’t quite figured out his XI. And as long as that persists, all’s clear for Arsenal. Strike two. Manchester City who in my opinion is the strongest in England completes the competitors list. (Sorry but I just don’t see the Spuds or Liverpool threatening.) For some reason, City has flattered to deceive despite having the squad that they do. They lost to Cardiff and well, you see my fellow gooners, that’s just awkward. Strike three. My point here is that Arsene Wenger has a squad that is stable and all the players know each other’s moves. They’re gelling so well. I can only imagine that the locker room atmosphere must be brilliant and there’s nothing more vital than camaraderie. The reason why Barcelona is Barcelona is that the players know everything about each other. Plus, they have that Messi bloke. And if someone asks me if I really truly believe Arsenal has what it takes this season, I’d give a definitive yes. And if for some reason we don’t this season, we’ll come mighty close to it. And if we can retain everyone and add personnel where required, then the Arsenal is going to be a beast next season.
