Newcastle United's Yohan Cabaye has revealed his
failed transfer to Arsenal in the summer was hard to
swallow.
But the Frenchman has not been able to shed light
on exactly why the move broke down, he pointed
reporters in the direction of the Magpie's Director of
Football, Joe Kinnear.
Alan Pardew was not happy with the timing of
Arsenal's approach, on the eve of their opening
Premier League game against Manchester City, and
Cabaye opted to sit out of Newcastle's league
fixtures until the saga was resolved.
However, the Toon Army stood strong and refused to
sell their star midfielder to the Gunners and Cabaye
apologised to fans soon after for refusing to play for
the club.
Cabaye was questioned about Arsenal's bid during a
press conference ahead of France's World Cup
Qualifiers.
"Was my failed transfer to Arsenal difficult to
swallow? At first, yes," said the midfielder.
"But you have to quickly get focused again, because
if you go on thinking about it you have a grudge
against a lot of people and that is useless.
"I quickly forget about it and go back to work."
Despite Cabaye's regret over the failed transfer, he
has revealed he does not bear a grudge on the North-
East club.
"The fans' state of mind was due to what the club
wanted to let them know," he said.
"As I didn't talk and I won't give any explanation
about what happened, they chose their side. That is
part of a career, but I bear no grudge against no one.
I accept it, it is in the past."
The former Lille ace refused to be drawn on why talks
broke down and said only Kinnear would be the man
to reveal why the move didn't materialise.
"The only person who can explain what happened is
Joe Kinnear. If he is honest, he will tell it. Otherwise it
will not get out of my mouth."
Cabaye should probably be grateful he didn't secure
a move to North London in the summer.
With the signing of Mesut Ozil and the outstanding
form shown by Aaron Ramsey, you'd struggle to see
the Newcastle player getting into Arsene Wenger's
side.
