Is Viviano transfer behind Martinez exit?

It seems that, for the moment, Wojciech Szczesny
has got the Arsenal number one jersey nailed down,
but Arsene Wenger showed last year that he has no
qualms about dropping the Polish international if his
performances are not up to scratch.
Szczesny is well aware that there are two players
ready and waiting for their chance. In fact, Lukasz
Fabianski has already played one game this season,
against West Brom in the Capital One cup, and he
performed well. The other keeper is yet to make his
Arsenal debut, having joined the Gunners on loan for
the season, but Emiliano Viviano is not worried and is
working hard to be ready when his chance does
come.
Viviano told Arsenal player, "I'm proud to be here
and I want to say thank you to the boss for making it
possible. Now it is important that I work hard every
day to show my quality.
"Now, I play in the national team with Buffon and I
try to learn from him, learn his secrets. I have been
proud to play when he has been unavailable, and
have been pleased to train with him. I hope that my
experience here, trying to help Arsenal win every
match, will also help me get back into the Italy
squad."
He did play almost every game for Fiorentina in Serie
A last season, and only lost his place in the Italy
squad when injuries ruined his spell at Inter Milan, so
there is definitely talent there. Perhaps then, his
arrival has something to do with the decision of
Damian Martinez to accept a move to Sheffield
Wednesday on loan for a month.
The 21-year old, who has seven caps for Argentina at
underage level and has been impressive for the
Arsenal under-21 side, but he is unlikely to add to
last season's two Capital One cup appearances with
three good keepers ahead of him, so hopefully he will
now get a few competitive games under his belt.
