Arsenal pondering shock transfer swoop

Arsenal have contacted Juventus to discuss a deal for striker Fabio Quagliarella, according to reports from the Evening Standard. The Italian forward is believed to have little future in Turin, and has been linked with a move to West Ham in recent weeks. But, in a bid to up his transfer activity, Gunners chief Arsene Wenger is considering a shock move for the 30-year-old. Quagliarella is facing an uncertain future with the Serie A champions, with the likes of Carlos Tevez, Fernando Llorente and Mirko Vucinic all ahead of him in the pecking order. Wenger is keen to offer him an escape route, and is confident that he can secure a cut-price deal for the experienced front-man. Lukas Podolski’s recent injury has sped up the Londoners’ search for attacking reinforcements, with the German set to miss around 10 weeks of first- team action with a hamstring problem. This leaves Arsenal with Olivier Giroud, Yaya Sanago and Theo Walcott – with the latter often used as a winger – as their only central striking options. Quagliarella – a 20-time Italian international – can play all across the frontline, and Wenger is hopeful that he could add a new edge to his attack. Arsenal fans, would Fabio Quagliarella be a good signing?
