Arsenal Debate: Who should be in our starting XI with EVERYONE fit?

How should Arsenal lineup when everyone is fit? By Twig The signing of Ozil gives Arsenal a player of undoubted “top, top” quality, but also gives the manager some selection headaches. By December all our players, including even Diaby, should be fit and ready (we hope) for selection. For the first time in a long while, Arsenal have a proper DM in Flamini, which will enable us to play a 4-4-2. So if we were playing Manchester United tomorrow and you had all players available, who would be in your first eleven? Striker Unless Wenger wants to try the False 9, like Mourinho tried with Schurrle, this slot is surely owned by Giroud. Giroud has started with great form and is buzzing with confidence. The duo of Sanogo and Nicklas B, shouldn’t give him any problems at all. Right Winger Many players can play the right wing for Arsenal, but the best fit for that role is Theo Walcott. This season, Theo seems to have put his desire to play as No. 9 on the back burner and seems to enjoy playing support to Giroud. Although he hasn’t scored yet, he looks very sharp, and weighed in with the match-winning assist for Giroud. I expect Walcott to be the greatest beneficiary of Ozil’s signing… maybe they can form the same partnership that Ozil had with Ronaldo. Left Winger Who would you choose between Cazorla, Podolski and Oxlade-Chamberlain? Tough decision! I think Wenger’s first choice for left winger is the OX, as we saw in his match selection in our first game of the season. Unlike Cazorla and Podolski, the OX brings lots of energy, direct running and pace to the left wing. However, the signing of Ozil makes things more complicated, which might see the OX fall victim. Podolski is another option, but he doesn’t contribute to the play as either Cazorla or the OX, although he has the best left foot on the planet. Central Attacking Midfielder Wenger has often played Cazorla on the left, but I prefer him in the middle, almost as the second striker. I really, really like Cazorla facing the goal directly, and he showed last season that he doesn’t hesitate when offered a shooting chance. However, a certain £42M man, once again makes things less straightforward. Cazorla and Ozil are the frontrunners for CAM, but Cazorla, appears to be more prolific in front of goal, and is able to execute the same through passes that Ozil can. However, playing in CAM for Real Madrid, Ozil has consistently been at the top of the Assist Charts in Europe for the past few seasons, sometimes even bettering Messi, so …? Central Midfielder Ramsey has been Arsenal’s most impressive midfielder so far this season. He gave a battling performance against Spurs and his goals helped us qualify for the UCL. His competition is Wilshere and Diaby, but these two players have had injury problems in recent times. It’s a shame really that Diaby is so blighted with injury, as he brings a different set of characteristics than any of our midfielders. Defensive Midfielder Arteta or Flamini?! With Vermaelen’s loss of form, Arteta became the captain of the team. Even before the band was handed over to him, Arteta played with the air of authority of the team’s leader. He also takes our penalties, which will weigh in heavily on Wenger’s mind when making his final selection. However, against Spurs we saw that leadership comes naturally to Flamini as well. He is more vocal than Arteta, more aggressive, faster but maybe a bit more reckless. It’s hard to see Wenger jettison Arteta after all this while, but Flamini can take advantage of the injuries to Wilshere and Arteta to stake a claim to a starting place. Defenders and Keeper The defence virtually picks itself as we all know! The only area of interest is in the keeper position. At the moment, Szczesny is first choice but his position is certainly not guaranteed. Meanwhile, Viviano has been talking tough and is keen to use Arsenal as a springboard to play for Italy in the World Cup. An interesting fight here. So there you go! With all players fit, Wenger has a big selection headache, but as he brought the headache on himself, I’m sure he has it all figured out! The keenest fight for places would be in the CAM and the Left Wing, and all of Podolski, the OX, Cazorla and even Ozil will have to settle for the bench at some point in time. Cazorla and Ozil are favourites for the CAM and Left Wing, but I expect the coach to instruct them to interchange positions throughout the game. The only forward players with a guaranteed playing position seem to be Giroud and Walcott. They would be pleased. I may be wrong about the line up, but one thing I do know is that I cannot wait to see whatever players Wenger picks for Arsenal ripping the opposition to shreds. This is my line up. 1=GK_Szczesny 2=DL_Gibbs 3=DCL_Koscielny 4=DCR_Mertasacker 5=DR_Sagna 6=DML_Flamini 7=DMR_Ramsey 8=AL_Cazorla 9=AC_Ozil 10=AR_Walcott 11=FCA_Giroud
