Giroud does NOT have to defend his Arsenal form

There have been a number of revelations at Arsenal
Football Club this season, so it is understandable
that the form of Olivier Giroud has not gained as
many column inches as he deserves, but he has got
absolutely no need to have to defend his career with
the Gunners, but he clearly feels that he has not
been given due credit, as reported by The Mirror.
Because of the stunning and largely unexpected
performances and goals from Aaron Ramsey, the
Club smashing it's transfer record, Ozil showing
instantly and Arsenal being top of the league,
Giroud's form has slipped under the radar. Not that
the media and football world have not noticed, just
that he is not the big story. Unlike last season, when
he was the target of more than his fair share of
criticism. The big Frenchman has revealed how
frustrating he has found his situation at times.
"I had to put up with a lot of c**p," said Giroud. "You
work like a donkey on the pitch, you get knocked
around, and it feels like people are just not watching.
"People will say it is easier to score for Arsenal now
Ozil is here.
"And when Giroud scores, it will be because Ozil was
there.
"But I was always scoring before Ozil arrived."
To be fair to Arsenal fans, they gave Giroud plenty of
support, especially at the start, even when he was
missing chances. The hard fact of life is that strikers
are often judged on their goals. We appreciated
Giroud's work rate and link up play last season, for
the most part, but we wanted him to score more.
Now he has proved his ability to add goals to his all
round game, Arsenal fans love him, and the only
reason we still want a new striker is for more goals
and in case of injury.
However, if Giroud feels he needs to prove himself, to
fans or the media, it is not such a bad thing because
he will keep pushing himself to do better. But he
shouldn't feel unappreciated, because he is a vital
part of the best team Arsenal have had in years and
he has become first choice ahead of the likes of
Benzema and Remy for France. Cheer up Olly.
