Serge Gnabry must be pinching himself about how
his season is going so far. The Arsenal youngster,
who turned down a tempting offer to return to his
boyhood club Stuttgart in the summer, went on the
pre-season tour of Asia. He performed admirably in
those games and perhaps it was training and playing
with the first team players then that have helped him
to take everything in his stride.
Last season, as well as impressing with the reserves
and helping us to reach the semi-finals of the
NextGen series, he became the third youngest
Gunner ever to play in the Premier League, behind
Wilshere and Walcott. It was Walcott's injury this
season that really opened the door to young Gnabry,
and he has charged through it.
His first top flight goal against Swansea was well
taken and no more than the 18-year old deserved,
and it started Arsenal on the way to a great away
win. So it is no surprise to hear that Gnabry is
impressing at international level as well. He played
his second game at under 19 level for Germany last
night away to Belarus, and he scored the second of
Germany's goals which turned out to be the winner.
It will have come as no surprise in Germany, as he
scored three in two games at under 18 level, as well
as three for the under 17s and one for the under 16s.
So it looks like Arsenal have unearthed another gem,
while Theo and Ox have got some serious
competition, and he can even play on the left as
well.. Keep it up Serge!
