Koscielny doubtful for Norwich clash

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has picked up a
calf strain on international duty, the French Football
Federation has revealed.
The highly rated defender was called to the France
squad for the international friendly against Australia,
but he is a major doubt for that match after picking
up a calf injury in training.
With Raphael Varane suffering a knee injury, les
Bleus coach Didier Deschamps has drafted Saint
Etienne starlet Kurt Zouma into the squad.
Chances are that Laurent Koscielny will not be risked
against Australia, while it remains to be seen
whether the 28-year-old will recover in time to face
Norwich next Saturday, where the Gunners are 7/25
to return to winning ways.
The France international has been an important part
of the side that climbed to the top of the Premier
League standings, having picked up 16 points from
first 7 league fixtures.
After committing a penalty and being sent off in the
process during the opening game against Aston Villa,
Koscielny has recovered well and started last five
league matches for the Gunners.
Meanwhile, he has nailed down a regular starting
berth in the national team as well, so no doubt the
injury comes at a bad time.
Nevertheless, the centre-back is unlikely to be out for
too long and could even make an appearance in the
Norwich match that comes right after the
international break.
