Pires: Ozil has the vision, touch and genius of Zidane

Arsenal legend Robert Pires has hailed record
signing Mesut Ozil and claims the play maker
reminds him of French great Zinedine Zidane.
The 24 year old has adjusted to life in the Premier
League with ease following his deadline day arrival
from Real Madrid, instantly providing moments of
brilliance that see many recognise him as the finest
number 10 on the planet.
Pires believes that Ozil will be a major success at
Emirates Stadium and has suggested that the
signing represents a real statement of intent.
Speaking to the Arsenal official website, he said:
I think that Arsene Wenger and Arsenal have
signed a world class player in Mesut Ozil.
He is, in my opinion, the best No 10 in Europe. He
has proven it with Real Madrid and with Germany.
For me, he is exactly the player the team was
missing.
It is an amazing coup that Arsenal made this
summer not only in football terms as Ozil will
strengthen the team, but it will give the rest of
the squad more confidence and opponents will
fear Arsenal again. But also in terms of prestige
as it proves that Arsenal is still a massive club.
If I had to compare Ozil with someone I played
with in my career, I think I would say that he has a
bit of Zinedine Zidane in him, in terms of vision,
touch and genius to make others play around
him.
Like all Arsenal fans who have been expecting a
big signing like that for a number of years, I am
very happy he is a Gunner now because he will be
fantastic for us.
Ozil has had a massive effect on Arsenal as a team.
The attacking midfielder has started life at the
Emirates with a string of scintillating performances
and his arrival has fuelled their exhilarating start of
the season which sees them sit at the top the
Premier League table, ahead of Liverpool on goal
difference.
The German international has amazing skill,
technique, vision, intelligent movement and his work
rate has been truly exceptional which is why he has
often been compared to the French legend. He will
try to replicate the effect Pires had on the Gunners in
their 2003/04 title win and end Arsenal's trophy
drought.
Hopefully Ozil can also follow in the footsteps of Pires
to become an Arsenal legend and ultimately return
glory to the Arsenal trophy cabinet.
