Latest Arsenal injury news on Arteta and Podolski
The news is rolling in for Arsenal at the moment and
fortunately the majority of the time it’s good. The
much anticipated debut of Mesut Ozil went well,
opening his account on the assist front with the
Gunners just 11 minutes into the game, whilst
Arsenal also walked away with all three points.
The game may not have been entirely comfortable
for the whole 90 minutes, however Arsenal
dominated in chances and looked like a real
attacking force. So with another three points on the
board and Arsenal on top of the league for now, we
can look ahead to the first group stage Champions
League game of the season, this Wednesday against
Marseille in France.
And luckily for Arsenal we may have a few of our
stars that missed out yesterday, return for the
Marseille game, with Per Mertesacker missing
through illness. Also Thomas Vermaelen could make
a start for the Gunners, after finally making his
comeback for the closing minutes of the Sunderland
game. Other players are also close to returning with
suggestions concerning Arteta and Podolski stating
that both players are making rapid recoveries.
Arteta could be ready to face West Brom in the
Capital One Cup, which would be a nice game to ease
back into. Mikel Arteta was originally ruled out for 6
weeks, after picking up an injury during pre-season
and although it has already been around that
duration of time, Arteta is already back in training
and so all the signs are positive for a good return.
Lukas Podolski is another long term injured player,
with the German expected to miss 3 months after
injuring his hamstring in the 2nd leg of the
Champions League qualification stage. But now he is
recovering well and the expected date may be
shortened by quite a lot with suggestions that he
may in fact be able to play a small role in the Napoli
game at the start of October.
It’s good to hear that these Gunners are on their way
back from injury because although we now have a
decent starting eleven, our bench is truly appalling;
especially from the names we had on it yesterday.
But then again as it was stated after the game,
Arsenal do in fact have 9 first team players injured
and so what more should we expected. Hopefully all
those that are injured are in for a healthy return.
